EAGLETOWN – The Lady Eagles didn’t give up a run in their district, doubleheader sweep of visiting Battiest on Wednesday.
Eagletown outscored the Lady Panthers 20-0 in two, run-rule shortened Class B games.
“We came out ready to play and took care of business,” said Eagle-town coach Greg Holt. “They had been a thorn in our side all year long.”
The Lady Eagles took the first contest 8-0.
Maeson McCaig only allowed two hits and walked one. She struck out four.
McCaig was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored.
Lacey Griffin smacked a 2-run double. ShaVannah Short tripled and Amber Rowan added a single.
Holt said Eagletown made a couple of good defensive plays in the top of the first inning to prevent Battiest from scoring.
Eagletown glided to a 12-0 win in the second game. Amber Rowan worked all four innings, yielding just one hit. She struck out four and walked three.
McCaig topped the offense by going 3-for-3 with a double. Kayla Bohanan added three hits as well.
Lacey Griffin went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Short contributed a 2-run single.
Briana Billy and Kristie Baker both singled.
Wednesday’s victories push Eagletown to 20-11 on the season. Coach Holt said reaching the 20-win plateau was one of the team’s preseason goals.
“Another goal is to get out of re-gional,” he said.
Eagletown will learn its regional assignment on Monday. This will be Eagletown’s third trip to the regional tournament (slow and fastpitch combined) under Holt’s guidance. He thinks the Lady Ea-gles should be focused and ready to play this time.
“No substitute for experience,” he said.
