Allene was born on July 16, 1921, In Broken Bow, to Annie and Slaton Poole and John Newman Poole.<BR>Raised in Broken Bow, Allene was named salutatorian of the Broken Bow High School class of 1938. She worked for the Broken Bow Public School System, Dierks Lumber and Coal Company, Oklahoma Sate Representative Guy Massey, and Baker and Taylor Book Company. She was partner with her husband in Sewell&rsquo;s Camp Store in Nashville, Ark.<BR>Allene was accomplished in the textile arts &ndash; crocheting, knitting, quilting, tatting, sewing, and braiding rugs, and she especially enjoyed playing the piano in church. She was active in the Methodist and Presbyterian churches. Allene proved to be a gifted genealogical researcher; meticulously tracing and documenting the lines of her family.<BR>She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Robert Franklin Sewell and William O. Cook; her brother, Ledger Poole; nephew, Terry Allen Poole; and grand-nephew, Chase Clawson.<BR>Allene is survived by her son, John Franklin Sewell of Newcastle, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Sewell, and William B. Worthen, Jr. of Little Rock, Ark.; grandchildren, Laura Kathleen Sewell, Brian Alexander Sewell, and Rachel Louisa Worthen; sister-in-law, June Poole; nieces Vicky Farley, Shonda Hendon, and Annette Sewell Fields; nephews, Kelly Poole and Jim Sewell several other relatives and a host of friends.<BR>The family would like to express its special gratitude to long-time caregivers Ann Warner and Della Love, and to the dedicated folks at the Broken Bow Nursing Home.<BR>A graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at the Avery Cemetery in Avery, Texas, with the Rev. Gary McLain of the Avery Methodist Church, officiating. &#9;<BR>The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at the funeral home. <BR>In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer&rsquo;s Foundation.<BR></SPAN> </div></td></tr></table></table>
