He was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Garvin, the son of Char-lie Coffman and Myrtle Newton Coffman.<BR>Sherman had lived in McCur-tain County all his life until mov-ing to Texas is 1984. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines in World War II and was wounded in Okinawa, receiving a purple heart. <BR>Sherman was a rancher and a school busdriver.<BR>He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Coffman in 2001.<BR>He leaves to cherish his mem-ory, one son and wife, David Wayne (Joe) and Scherry Coffman, Anahuac, Texas; one daughter and husband, Laverne and Gary Upton, Nashville, Ar-k.; one daughter-in-law, Tresa Coffman Turnage, Idabel; seven grandchildren, Travis Sargent, Valliant, Andlen (Andee) Pope, Stangdahiem, Germany, Joe Ray Coffman, Idabel, Curtis Coffman, Texarkana, Texas, Lacey Coffman, Blanchard, Kyle Coffman, Idabel, Kristy Shoe-maker, Hankamer, Texas; and seven great grandchildren.<BR>The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13 at Norwood-Nation Chapel.<BR>Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 at Norwood-Nation Chapel with Victor Balagbagan officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.<BR></SPAN> </div></td></tr></table></table>
