Geovonna Davis, reading specialist at Battiest Elementary School, recently had a pajama party read-in to celebrate National Young Readers Day. Newly elected Sena-tor Jerry Ellis, Superintendent of the Battiest School Lendall Martin, Chairman of the Board for the Pickens VFD Keith Lowe, Executive Director of Southeastern Oklahoma Interlocal Cooperative Rita Burke and Battiest School Board member James Hamilton and wife Cindy were all celebrity readers for the event. There were 45 students and parents in attendance, and door prizes were awarded to Corby McGrath, Jayson Gills, Lizzie Morris, Kaeleigh Brown, Shaylyn DeLozier and Hannah Hamilton.
